Revo Uninstaller – Arguably the best free uninstaller. Revo will search for and delete any leftover entries, including registry, in much the same way as an experienced user would do. Revo will always search for and use the program’s built-in uninstaller first, which is the preferred method. Includes a couple of handy tools and has a portable version too. (XP/Vista 32bit)
My Uninstaller - A great improvement over the built-in Windows uninstaller. Gives much more information about each installed program including product name, company and version, uninstall string, installation folder, and Windows Registry details. It also allows you to delete orphaned and obsolete entries from the list. One very useful feature is the ability to sort programs by the date installed which is great for quickly uninstalling programs during a ‘tryout’ session. As no installation is required, it can be run from a USB drive. (XP/Vista 32/64bit)
Total Uninstall - Monitors changes made to the system during installation of new software and performs a complete uninstall. Simply start the installation program from within the Total Uninstall interface and select the system areas to be monitored. The program will then create a snapshot before it installs the new software and another after install completes. It then compares the two snapshots and displays all changes in a graphical tree view, marking all values and/or files that have been added or changed as well as before/after details. Total Uninstall will save the changes and during uninstall process will reverse all changes to the previous state. Total Uninstall is now shareware. The link is to the last freeware version before they began charging. (XP/Vista 32bit)
Zsoft Uninstaller - Top notch uninstaller and another which monitors ‘before and after’ settings. By taking a file and registry snapshot both before and after any installation ZSoft maintains a record of all changes made which helps enable a complete uninstall. This before and after approach is not foolproof, as other files may change in your system during the install which are unrelated to the installation, unlikely but possible. Consequently, these types of uninstallers are more suited for the experienced user. (XP/Vista)
