Starting today [Dec. 16, 2008] (see post on Internet Explorer zero-day attacks below), I plan to post regular updates containing information security news vital to your safety on the web. I'll also let you know about any useful security related software and utilities that I test and recommend.

Right now I have no set schedule in mind--I'll post as needed--but may switch to a weekly round up format for routine issues, supplemented by instant updates on any critical issues. I also plan to announce when I post new articles to my Security Corner blog.

This is your opportunity to get your security questions answered, share your experiences, and get some expert advice, so feel free to post early and post often on any topics that interest you.

i believe this thread is just lying around the corner cathing good old dust.

everything (including Apple) is vunerable nowadays..

It's almost impossible to keep up with all the vulnerabilities. The trend these days is to catch the "low hanging fruit;" i.e., unpatched vulnerabilities in commonly-used software. The more market share an application has, the bigger the target it is.

Mea culpa - I feel like I've had my head...in the sand! I just looked over your blog and was very interested to see your comments about LastPass. I also read read the interview with Steve Gibson about the software. I can't agree with his glowing endorsement of LastPass. To be fair, I'm not a Gibson fan - except for Spinrite, he's taken very strange turns in his businesses, imo.

I realize that LastPass is very convenient, but I'm just old-school enough to not be comfortable with storing passwords on someone else's servers, no matter how encrypted. After years of using KeePass, I'll keep mine on local storage.
