Free Antivirus Software

The antivirus software below is free. Free antivirus software may be the solution to your problem, but often times paid software does a better job. In my opinion this is one of those times.

Avira AntiVir 8 - free antivirus program. Currently the best of the free programs.

AVG Antivirus - free antivirus program.

AVAST Antivirus - free antivirus program.

Comodo Firewall - free firewall with excellent protection. The interface may be a little complicated for novice users. I suggest you check out the Online Armor firewall.

Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer - free program from Microsoft that scans a computer for know vulnerabilities and misconfigurations. Also scans for missing updates.

Online Armor Firewall - Simply the best firewall available! A great user interface and excellent protection! Online Armor is available in a free version as well as a reasonably priced paid version, which adds many extra features!

PC Tools Firewall - free firewall. A good choice for novice users who don't like the Online Armor Firewall (if that's possible).
