Daves Computer Tips began in August of 2006 with one goal; To become the best source of computer information on the internet for all users. What began as a one man effort focused on Microsoft Windows has grown to four writers. The focus has grown from Microsoft Windows to include Microsoft Office, Freeware, Computer Security, and Digital Photography. Meet the Crew below:
Dave Hartsock - Editor |

Dave became interested in computers during the Apple II era. When the TI-99 was introduced he spent many hours writing programs for his own amusement. Times change, and computers took a back seat as Dave began a career behind the scenes in television. In the early 1990's PC computers began to replace proprietary and mainframe devices in the industry. Dave loved the simple design and ease of use of the Personal Computer. He began to learn and experiment with the PC. Through DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and now Windows Vista, Dave became the "go to" guy for friends, family, and coworkers with computer problems. In July 2006 Dave decided to share this knowledge, thus Daves Computer Tips was born.

Carol has spent some time in the trenches, working in many law offices as a legal secretary for many years. Carol became interested in computers and software before she became the computer "go to" person in her office. Carol went on to receive her A+, MCP, and MOS certifications before becoming the trainer at a large law firm. From there Carol created her business, Carol's Corner Office, training the staffs of small law firms in MS Office applications. In 2002 Carol began publishing a monthly, then bi-monthly newsletter, Carol's Word Bytes, to share her knowledge with a wider group of users. Carol has authored many books covering Microsoft Office and written articles for Infopackets, TechnoLawyer, and Digital Harbor. Contact Carol at |

Ron is a retired professional photographer living in Los Angeles, California. He's also a geologist, writes research papers and poetry, and builds his own computers. Clearly, he can't hold down a steady job! Starting with Windows 3.11 in the early 90's, he's a self-taught computer geek who manages his small home network and several off-site machines for friends. Currently, using XP and Windows 7, he maintains a working relationship with others around the world who share at least some of his interests. When it comes to software, he believes it should fit the user and the task.

Chad Johnson - The Chad Files Editor |
|
![]() |
Chad touched down on this planet in 1980. Originating from the planet Triangle, he set forth on this planet determined to learn all that could be learned. When that proved impossible, he donned the guise of a houseplant for several years until the computer revolution made it possible to simply download all available information. His mission complete, he moonlights as a computer system technician, website designer, father, and lover of pickles.
Originally a hobby, computers became a career when no other usable skills were discovered within his abilities. Chad's antics can be followed on his blog outsidethefire.org. Contact Chad at |
