In 1889, Dr. Herman Hollerith received the first U.S. patent for a tabulating machine.

Herman Hollerith is widely regarded as the father of modern automatic computation. He founded the company that was to become IBM.

In 1923, Joseph Wiezenbaum, artificial intelligence pioneer, was born.

In addition to developing the world’s first banking software for Bank of America, Weizenbaum has contributed to the field of artificial intelligence and is the author of the famous ELIZA program.

In 1988, Hewlett-Packard introduced the HP-28S Advanced Scientific Calculator.

The HP-28S had 32K bytes of storage for $235.
